Nairobi to Masai Mara
Pick up from your Nairobi hotel at 8:00 AM. Drive through the Great Rift Valley with a stop at the scenic viewpoint for photos. Arrive at Masai Mara around 1:00 PM, check into your lodge and enjoy lunch. At 4:00 PM, depart for your first evening game drive in the Masai Mara. Look for lions, elephants, cheetahs, and other wildlife. Return to the lodge at 6:30 PM for dinner and overnight.
Full Day in Masai Mara
Today schedule is flexible. Option 1: Depart at 6:00 AM for an early morning game drive (best time to see predators hunting), return for breakfast, relax, then afternoon game drive with picnic lunch. Option 2: Have a relaxed breakfast at 8:00 AM, depart at 9:00 AM for full-day game drive with packed lunch, return at 6:00 PM. Explore the vast savannah plains, visit the Mara River to see hippos and crocodiles, and track the Big Five.
Masai Mara Full Day
Another full day exploring different areas of the Masai Mara. Drive to the Mara River where wildebeest cross during migration season (July-October). Visit areas known for cheetah and leopard sightings. Optional activities include hot air balloon safari at dawn ($480 per person) or Maasai village cultural visit ($25 per person). Extensive game viewing with packed lunch in the park.
Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru
Optional early morning game drive (additional park fees apply). After breakfast around 9:00 AM, check out and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park. Scenic drive past Mt. Longonot and Lake Naivasha. Arrive at Lake Nakuru around 3:00 PM, check in and enjoy late afternoon game drive. Lake Nakuru is famous for flamingos, endangered black and white rhinos, and tree-climbing lions.
Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha
Early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru (6:30-11:00 AM). Search for both black and white rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, leopards, and abundant birdlife including thousands of flamingos. After game drive, depart for nearby Lake Naivasha. Check in and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, take a boat ride on Lake Naivasha to see hippos up close and hundreds of bird species. Optional visit to Crescent Island for a walking safari among giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest.
Lake Naivasha to Amboseli
Morning at leisure or optional Hell's Gate National Park cycling tour. After breakfast, depart for Amboseli National Park. Drive through typical Kenyan countryside and Maasai lands. Arrive at Amboseli in the afternoon. Check in and enjoy evening game drive. Amboseli is famous for large elephant herds and spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Full Day Amboseli
Full day exploring Amboseli with morning and afternoon game drives. Early morning offers the best chance to see Mt. Kilimanjaro without clouds. Watch large elephant herds play in the swamps, spot lions resting under acacia trees, and see the park's famous "tuskers." Visit observation hill for panoramic views. Enjoy picnic lunch in the park with views of Kilimanjaro.
Amboseli Full Day
Another full day in Amboseli. Early morning game drive (6:00 AM) for sunrise photography with Mt. Kilimanjaro backdrop. Return for breakfast, then either relax at the lodge or take an afternoon game drive. Visit different areas of the park including the swamps where elephants bathe and the dry lake bed. Excellent opportunities to photograph wildlife against Africa's highest mountain.
Amboseli to Nairobi
Optional early morning game drive to catch the last sunrise over Kilimanjaro. Return for breakfast, check out around 9:00 AM. Drive back to Nairobi with en-route lunch. Arrive in Nairobi around 2:00-3:00 PM. Drop off at your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight. End of safari.
